Abstract

It may be the first time directly to introduce the view and the methodology along with a series of relevant methods on Semantic Cube and Web in English to international academia in due form.

I have been examined the issues about mathematical and physical Quaternion(a+bi+cj+dk),Time and Space (x，y，z，ict) along with the Semantic Triangle (Thing，Word and their Meaning ) from the view of Information Science and Information Philosophy for more than ten years. Different from previous research we emphasize the importance of Four Basic Categories (Thing, Concept, Word and their Relation) in the study of methodology and view for the semantic system.

In what follows I want to use the model of Semantic Tri-Pyramid or Information Tetrahedron to portray the Four Basic Categories.

There are three parts in this paper.

It starts with a brief introduction to traditional view. Then it proposes a theory to testify the view. An additional discussion of the three kinds of Cognitive Models in the view of conventional philosophy is also provided. I find in my research that Scholars in the world almost have studied every parts of the Factors (such as  Mass, Energy, Time, Space, Concept, Word and their Relation) in the view of conventional science dispersedly, but no one has studied them systematically like this way.

Based on these findings, I conclude that the Factors should be simplified to the Two Parts (namely Thing and Information). Some useful implications obtained from this study that includes Thing or Physical System based on physics and Information or Information System based on informatics in which the Factors should be combined to make the whole world. That is to say the seven sections (Seven Factors) are essential for every system.Physical System should be divided into two parts of Mass and Energy with the view of Time and Space.Information System should be divided into three virtual parts of Concept,Word and their Relation. I have concluded that the Seven Factors should be simplified to the Four Basic Categories (namely Thing, Concept, Word and their Relation) for more than ten years. I expressly tried out Four Basic Categories for the other scholars.

I use Semantic Tri-Pyramid or Information Tetrahedron to portray the Four Basic Categories for that the Thing, Concept, Word and their Relation should be viewed as the four points of Semantic Tri-Pyramid or the four sides of Information Tetrahedron.

There are three kinds of methodology and view as the Models on Philosophical Ontology，Epistemology and Linguistic Turning. That is to say in conventional philosophy only first three categories of the Four Basic Categories have been discussed systematically.My conclusion is that if Thing and Information can be combined to make the Semantic Tri-Pyramid or Information Tetrahedron,then the all or the one which is made up of Thing and Information should be made clear whether material or information system is the world alike.
