General Informatics as AI foundation

AbstractI think One of AI foundations should be built on General Informatics for that there are three kinds of usages and researches on the word or concept of Information must be primarily concerned with. Firstly, people commonly use it to point to anything unknown that should be called and focused on understanding Universal Information in General Informatics. Secondly, people especially use it in the technical realm of Information Theory such as Mathematical Theory of Communication that explain the principles how to send or to store Bit or Data, and in the scientific realm of Information Science which explains the principles how to collect (e.g. to input or to feedback), to store (or to memorize), to arrange or to process (e.g. to analyze and to synthesize), to send out (e.g. to output and to transmit) Bit or Data, that would be called and focused on understanding formal Information in Formalized Informatics. Thirdly, people especially use it in any realm of Theory or Science which tackles the problem of Information first rather than technology first, that should be called and focused on understanding contents of Information in Departmental Informatics. Formalized Informatics is the hinge which could link Departmental Informatics and General Informatics.

Now experts understand the contents of Especial Information realm (such as the Information Theory of Communication and the Information Science of Computer along with Biology and etc.) much better than Universal Information realm [such as the Foundations of Information Science (FIS) and the Philosophy of Information (PI) and etc.]for that most of experts can not understand the Real Basic Information(RBI) realm, especially for that semantic information is ill-defined and subjective. We know that Semantics is the study of the meaning of word along with phrase. But we can not understand that Meaning (of a word, expression, or sign represents) should be divided into two realms including Concept and Relation according to the Semantic Tri-Pyramid Model in Co-Intelligent Science. That is why common people and most of experts can not know what exactly control Thing or Concept or Word at the view of RBI Theory. Here I will tell you the why and how.

Diagram 1 shows how to distinguish the RBI realm from the common (universal or general) and especial information realmsthe from or  model and content or contents of information realms.

 

What is Information? Hartley and Shannon told us the measure of Model and Basic Information in the Especial realm and the measured methods along with the Unit of bit, Wiener not only suggested to use Bit as the Basic Unit of Information but also told us to use the concept of Information in the Common (universal or general) Information realm. And now ZOU XIAO HUI suggested that we could use the phrase of From or Modal Information (e.g. Digital Information) instead of the word of Information used by Hartley and Shannon along with those who intentionally ignored the Contents of Information (e.g. Semantic Information). In this way, we may understand Information better now.

We conclude that Information is anything unknown in which that can be divided into essence as the RBI and phenomenon both as the model that could be ratiocinated logically and calculated mathematically in Formalized Informatics and as the content that the kind in General Informatics and its examples in Departmental Informatics.
